Ferrisburgh/Vergennes Train Station Rehabilitation
Summary
The Vermont Agency of Transportation selected Bread Loaf to provide General Contracting services for the rehabilitation of the historic 1850 Vergennes Depot and Platform. Prior to renovation, the building was relocated to the park-and-ride facility in Ferrisburgh, Vermont.
Restoration work included restoration and replication of historic trim, historically accurate window replacement, and restoration of interior millwork features and flooring. Interior improvements also involved HVAC and mechanical systems, a sprinkler system, communication systems, new lighting and re-use of the original paneling and trim in the waiting room. Exterior
improvements included a new sidewalk, new sewer line and pump station, new concrete railway platform, walkways, accessibility ramps, signage and associated sitework. All railway-related work met AMTRAK standards.
The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.
