Shelburne Community School Renovation

Bread Loaf provided Construction Management services to the Chittenden South Supervisory Union for a multi-phased renovation of the Shelburne Community School. Pre-construction phase services included cost estimating and identifying pricing alternatives as the design was developed. This helped the Owner and Architect achieve desired scope and design intent while staying within budget parameters. Bread Loaf’s MEP Manager reviewed and reworked the mechanical design with the consulting engineer to provide a system that worked for the school and stayed within the project budget. Our team developed a Site Management Plan to indicate vehicular and pedestrian pathways to ensure a safe construction site with bus transport, parent-drop off and student/pedestrian circulation.

This multi-phase renovation incorporated different wings of the school and required that the majority of the work take place during the school year. Bread Loaf worked diligently with school staff to determine the most efficient and safest path to project completion while working in areas adjacent to occupied classrooms. By creating temporary classrooms and assembly spaces within unoccupied areas, Bread Loaf was able to relocate certain functions and proceed with work during the academic calendar. The final phase was the renovation of the Cafeteria which included the demo and removal of existing flooring, stage and ceiling, as well as the installation of new acoustical grid ceiling, flooring, ceiling light fixtures and diffusers.
