Orvis Retail Flagship Store
Orvis Retail Flagship Store
The Orvis Company, known for fly fishing equipment and outdoor apparel, envisioned bringing two elements into its new flagship store in Manchester, Vermont: nature and customers.
To meet this vision, Bread Loaf used wood, stone, iron, and water to create a rustic elegance that reflects the company brand. Cedar, native pine, and locally quarried stone place the building naturally in its landscape. A trout filled pool flows from indoors to the exterior casting ponds. A wood-burning fireplace with a thirty foot stone chimney warms visitors on a chilly day. High gable end windows provide glimpses of the Green Mountains and sky, and broad stair landings offer a place to pause to reflect on treasures from past adventures. A visit to the flagship store provides a similar experience to an Adirondack great camp and of the Orvis Lifestyle.
